2026 Programs and Classes

Classes and workshops will be held in the Fellowship Hall inside the main building unless otherwise stated. Dates and venues may change due to unforeseen circumstances. Please be sure to confirm details as needed. Cost for each class is normally $25 unless stated otherwise. Your spot in the class is not guaranteed until the class fee is paid. Supplies are not included unless stated.

February
02/05 – Program: Lilo Whitener-Frey’s Intro to Modern Quilting explores color, fabric choices, as well as what makes Modern so different from traditional quilts.

02/07 – Class: Corner Booth Quilt

This is a great candidate for a modern quilting class as it will encourage you to select modern fabrics, embrace the negative space & tackle curves, while still offering familiar construction & is a fast, fun make.

March
03/05 – Program: Presenting the Winter Challenge
03/05 – 03/07: Sleep @ Home Retreat. Bring your thing and get busy for 3 days of fun with your fellow quilt members! Doors open at 8AM each day at the Ministry Center of the First Baptist Church. You’re welcome to stay to quilt until you drop, but be sure to bring a friend who’s willing to stay as late as
you. (For safety reasons a 2 person will need to be on premises for Night Owls; no lone wolves!)

April
04/09 – Program: QUILT SHOW FINAL PREP!!!
04/29 – Workshop: Pillowcase kit making & construction; fabrics will be provided, just bring your cutting tools & maybe a machine if you’d like to put a few together.

May

05/07 – Program: Quilt Show results and Trunck Show on Reproduction Quilts

Presented by Laverne Farrar. Learn how she was introduced to the reproduction genre of pre- & post- Civil War Era quilts and why it connected with her.

June
06/04 – Program: 15 Minute Technique, Tips & Tools Tables. Several tables will be set up to show off important essentials to improve your quilting. Don’t miss out!
06/06 – Class: Beginners Piecing & Quilting 101. Learn skills to confidently enter into the quilter world or improve your essential skills. This class will teach you about nailing your quarter inch seams, choosing the right thread & so much more!

July
07/09 – Program: Lorelai from Pigs in a Blanket presents Stitch by Stitch a youth quilting journey trunk show. Young, vibrant and impressive, Lorelai will show how the next generation is embracing the art of quilting.

07/18 – Class: Christmas Star Weave Table Runner

Join in for a little Christmas in July with Kathy Blankenbecker teaching this beautiful table runner design by Tiami of Lilomo Quilts.

August
08/06 – Program: MO State Quilt Guild Presentation. Join in with us as we learn all about the MSQG, its programs & what it has to offer. Guest speakers are Terri Kenuck (President of MSQG) & Serena Crisp (MSQG Pursuit of Excellence & Grants Chair).
08/15 – Class: Pineapple Log Cabin
Taught by Charleana Bolton of Mama’s Outback Quilting. Few traditional patterns represent the American Frontier & adapt well to modern interpretation like the log cabin. Join us as Charleana walks us through an old but adaptable block that makes a stunning quilt.

September
09/03 – Program: Quilters Speed Dating. Get to know your fellow quilters in this fast and fun “Speed Dating” challenge. Make new friends and learn the nitty gritty about your fellow quilting peeps!
09/12 – Workshop: Baby Quilts & Pillowcases. Help us make a difference by spending some time making kits for our baby quilts & pillowcases.

October
10/01 – Program: Lora Krizanach Trunk & Talk on Mola. Learn about Mola, a handmade textile art that forms part of the traditional women’s clothing of the indigenous Guna peoples from the coral reef San Blas Islands. Don’t miss out learning more about this beautiful cutwork applique technique!

10/03 – Class: More Mola Please!

Taught by Lora Krizanach. Lora started quilting in 1984 and makes quilts that are geometrical and whimsical. She has learned the art of MOLA quilts and is ready to share their uniqueness with you!


10/15 – 10/17 – Sleep @ Home Retreat. Gear up for another busy 3 days of fun with your fellow quilt members! Doors open at 8AM each day at the Ministry Center of the First Baptist Church. Same rules as before; bring a buddy for the late shift.

November
11/05 – Program: Patchwork Paradise. When scrap happens, learn ways to get to patchwork paradise with smart storage for every scrap & UFO. Exciting tips & tricks await to make your sewing room “sew” happy.

11/07 – Class: Bag it! Learn to make your very own tote bag with an optional zipper. Taught by Martha Ethridge

December

10/03 – Program: Join one & all for a Grinchy Christmas with a potluck dinner & optional gift exchange!
