May Black State Fair Ribbons

May Black of the Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild won four ribbons at this year’s Missouri State Fair!  May stated she started quilting in 2003 and quilting has become her life.  She now travels to teach quilting to others; finding it fun to select the colors and watch them come together in the quilts.
The Mariner’s Compass (large bed quilt) won 2nd Place, the Stormy Seas Table Runner won 1st Place, the Summer Solstice (small wall hanging) won 1st place and the Red, White and Black Tree skirt won 1st Place. The Mariner’s Compass also won Best of Show at the July Rooster Creek quilt Show in Holts Summit.
May said it was exiting to win the ribbons; making her feel good about all the work that went into constructing the quilt.
These quilts and many more can be viewed at the upcoming Ozark Festival of Quilts show held October 7th and 8th at the Rolla Middle School, 1111 Soest Rd. Rolla.
