The guild provides community service through book donations to the Rolla Public Library; a donation to the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY; pillowcase donations to the Russell House, a women’s shelter in Rolla; and the donation of a quilt each year to the first baby born on National Quilt Day at Phelps County Regional Medical Center.
PPQG has an ongoing baby quilt project, named “Karen’s 10,000 Inches” in memory of Karen Lyman. Guild members produce a steady supply of baby quilts, which are donated to needy mothers and their newborns through several local programs. The guild provides kits of fabric and batting to make the quilts, or members may use their own materials and patterns.
